Bush vines are the traditional way of cultivating vineyards in the Swartland. The un-trellised vines are left to grow naturally with minimal human intervention. These dryland vines flourish under ideal conditions, creating wines with ripe tannins, concentrated aromas and rich flavours. Made from classic varieties grown throughout the region, these wines carry the distinct Swartland signature.
The bush vines of Swartland Winery are the legacy of its dedicated grape growers. Cultivating top quality grapes runs in the blood of over 60 members of Swartland Winery who have farmed this way for generations. The diversity of soil types, micro climates and locations create the ideal terroir to grow signature varieties like Shiraz, Pinotage, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay which excel as dryland vines.
