Adrian Maserow – AMA Architects
Johannesburg-based, Maserow is a modernist but more than that, a realist – if not idealist – concerning his chosen profession and its function. He says: ‘Architecture school presents only a fraction of the skills you need to practise as an architect. I qualified with a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 1981 and then completed my masters under Prof. Guedes and Dennis Radford at Wits University a few years later.
Wilh van der Merwe – W + W Architects
Wilh van der Merwe matriculated in Port Elizabeth and completed his B. Building Arts and B. Architecture at the University of Port Elizabeth under the distinguished leadership of Professor Danie Theron. He graduated in 1993.
Luis Ferreira da Silva – Luis Ferriea da Silva & Johnston Architects
‘In essence, my architecture is done with a smile, so I can’t get too serious about it, without feeling pretentious.’ So says Luis Ferreira da Silva, an architect whose handwriting marks him as a modernist, but also as a designer with an often unusual approach.
