Mathilda Venter grew up in the Karoo and experienced at first hand the essence of a farm kitchen. She achieved a degree from Stellenbosch University in Consumer Science in Housing and Design, before moving to London for 11 years where she gained valuable insight into the kitchen industry. This included experience with premium imported brands, not only in the design sector, but in the understanding of the market and operations within the company and industry. She subsequently returned to SA, settling in Cape Town, where she continued her passion for kitchen design and her understanding of the South African market, totalling 15 years experience.

She says: ‘All of the above has led me to what I consider to be the premium kitchen brand in the world – Valcucine.

‘The inauguration of Valcucine in SA began in Cape Town in 2007 when it was first imported by a German couple who recognised the potential for the growing international market, and thus a need for imported kitchens in the Mother City.

‘Valcucine has been paramount in the high-echelon kitchen sector for over 35 years and its focus is on the creation of timeless designs offering wellbeing and innovation; kitchens that are made to last. Each collection is conceived with people in mind to create products that contribute to the wellness and needs of the user. Further, the company has earned a reputation for its dedication to improving ergonomics and the use of space.

‘These are more than just kitchens, they are rather an experience that enhances the senses and gives the end user a feeling of freedom. Valcucine is conscious of the environment we live in and it produces innovative materials free from toxicities that may be harmful to both the consumer and the environment. These kitchens are ergonomically designed: height, weight and depth are planned around the specific requirements of the user, thus improving visibility and simplifying every movement. Certain models can be 80 percent to 100 percent recyclable while others are made entirely of glass and aluminium. This is timeless design with defined aesthetics, backed by a 10 year warranty.
