We’ve been around for 39 years. Habitat was first published in March 1973 and there have been more than a few gradients on our graph – both upside and downside – in those almost four decades.

Deep Mid-Winter

At the time of writing it’s topping out at around 14°C in Johannesburg with night-time / early morning chills of -2°C. Cold indeed, colder than last year and not auguring well for Eskom’s alleged dwindling supply of power to SA, (they’re still selling it to neigbouring states incidentally). The threat of load-shedding looms.

Design is in the Detail

It’s been said that design need not invoke grand gestures or sweeping statements to be successful. Instead it can focus on the smaller things in life. By this I take it to mean that fine design is in the detailing – not necessarily the larger elements.

Situated on a cliff-top overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Villa Sow in Dakar was completed in 2011. The house was designed for a Senegalese businessman and his family by SAOTA with Antoni Associates handling the interior décor. Most of the furniture was sourced from OKHA.

The writer was fortunate to join the BMW EuroStyle Tour to Germany in September. It began with a spectacular Frankfurt Motor Show and continued in Munich and its environs, encompassing an extravaganza of high-end design in various fields; BMW being a believer that a mélange of cutting-edge elements from various sectors benefit the overall result.
Window On The Sea
Ibiza is situated in the Gulf of Valencia, 80 kilometres from the Balearic main island of Majorca and 90 kilometres from the Spanish mainland.
