This project was recognized in the category of ‘Best Use of Colour’ in the recent Tatler Design Awards.
Design Intervention was established in 2004 and is helmed by partners Nikki Hunt and Andrea Savage. Over the years this design firm has made quite a name for themselves, creating award-wining projects, and receiving accolades from the industries’ most renowned sources.
This residential project illustrates ideally the mission of Design Intervention of going far beyond aesthetics to create environments that make people feel good, while living well. Executing appealing interior design requires extensive knowledge of the right brands to use in each setting.
Venturing into the black-and-white mansion, senses are sent into overdrive with a barrage of vibrant prints, bold colours and contrasting textures. Each interior looks different, yet there is a purposeful cohesiveness thanks to the over-arching tropical theme.
The style of this interior design project is all about a maximalist way of life. The bright colour palette and bold patterns highlight the modern profiles, lighting and furniture design in each space. In keeping with the tropical theme, this project somehow manages to project classic lines without compromising the overall aesthetic of the design ream.
LIVING ROOM / DINING ROOM
The living room is a total explosion of colour; it’s a tropical scenario where bold choices were made. The gold Eden Centre table is a renowned pieces from Boca do Lobo, which employs the highest quality materials and textures to create the resemblance of a tree trunk. Its shapes evoke a luxurious cosmopolitan environment that perfectly aligns with this project.
The living room is clad with Pierre Frey wallpaper that offers a special signature while the dining area retains bright colours as the focal point. Here a vivid and powerful blue wallpaper enhances the pieces in this space. In fact, the different wall claddings used throughout is the main differentiating factor that gives a unique personality to each interior.
EDEN CENTRE TABLE
The accent centre table engenders appeal and curiosity with its intriguing cut. Fashioned by master artisans and the ancient technique of polished cast brass, this statement piece incorporates nature-inspired design with industrious welding techniques. With delicate lines and bold details, a manually engraved top exposes the heart of a golden tree; as a sinuous gold-plated base. It’s a time-honoured piece in synch with both contemporary and classical design styles
