blu_line launched their latest kitchen collection, MONONUU, at the recent Design Joburg exhibition. This concept kitchen collection was developed in collaboration with designer Tristan Du Plessis of Studio A. The thinking behind the collection was to remove the kitchen from the walls of the living space, opening up the area, which enables free movement, not only around the kitchen island and tall cabinets but through them. This concept is part of blu_line continuously seeking to push the boundaries of design, thinking differently about how to interact with kitchen furniture.
The island was broken up into three sections, allowing seamless movement through the kitchen space, thereby removing any restrictions on ergonomic flow. The island units were finished in the latest terrazzo stone finish, exclusive to blu_line, while the tall cabinets featured a custom-angled timber veneer, adding to the drama of the space and relating to the hot rolled steel angled walls. The brass panel was then featured using the latest Sensorline 4.0 technology developed by blu_line. This enables the brass panel to act as a feature piece. When cooking begins, the panel slides away, controlled electronically to reveal the home farm hydroponics herb garden, as well as the oven. Finally, a living area was incorporated as part of the space, offering an easy flow around the kitchen and essentially merging various functions of the home into one.
