The link between superior Cape properties and fine art investment was highlighted against a backdrop of Fresnaye’s sparkling Atlantic Ocean views at the private home of Sue Bond. Grant Pierrus of Interior Style Hunter and Sue of Sue Bond Interiors gathered together a panel of specialists to share their expertise with invited guests at a recent soiree over canapés and cocktails.

The well-attended event emphasised art and property investment in the South African market and highlighted the overall sentiment of the panel that South African art and design competes globally in quality and demand, when compared to international design arts and is highly revered by serious global collectors and buyers. Guests also viewed Sue’s prolific private art collection that was on display and reflected the event’s first-class benchmark of all things stylish and beautiful.

Interior designer Sue Bond highlighted how her work changes the way people live. “Through design I’m able to influence lifestyle. My clients live in a certain way and it’s my role to maximise the use of the space, functionality and beauty of their homes. When I leave, there’s a new energy in the home and my clients’ lives are revitalised.”

Member of the panel Mica Curitz of Mica Curitz Art Consultancy shared how her clients embrace art to learn more about it. “I love to educate and observe over time how a piece they’ve bought 10 years ago for the living room, suddenly takes centre stage in their garage – art buyers love coming home to their favourites! They become bold and their collections deepen”.

With the excellent lifestyle that Cape Town offers, panelist member Cape property specialist and CEO of Knight Frank, Richard Hardie highlighted that property will continue to grow as an investment and remains an important choice for both local and international buyers. “Sentiments have already lifted after winter with President Cyril Ramaphosa actively selling South African investment abroad. Summer is always a good time for buyers in Cape Town”.
