Designed by architect Antonio Citterio and unveiled at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in April 2008, the Cestone sofa celebrates its 10th anniversary. ‘Time authenticates the validity of the idea,’ says Citterio. ‘Time is an unyielding judge and relegates to oblivion everything that is entirely void of authentic content.’ Not so for the Cestone sofa, backed by a design concept that is still current today, offering exquisitely executed construction details that position it well beyond the fate of fading fashions.

The concept behind the Cestone sofa overturns the design perspectives of living room décor. This is a star player, expressly designed to sit in the centre of the room. The ‘checkerboard’ pattern has a strong visual impact and produces an aesthetically pleasing contrast against the soft,
perfectly proportioned upholstered parts. It comes in 13 different colours, four of them in suede

The sofa can be paired with its eponymous coffee tables with tops in Canaletto walnut or ash, in a broad range of hues that create a delightful textural contrast with the warmth of the leather. Cowhide is a well-proven material, in use since ancient times. Because it offers great flexibility while maintaining its shape, cowhide has been the chosen material used in the production of shoes, clothing, luggage, wedding chests and designer upholstery.

Flexform is passionate about using the highest quality and 100 percent Made in Italy hide because it is a naturally fine material, which embodies the timeless nature of the company’s products.
