The Este sofa, designed by architect Antonio Citterio, is a linear component sofa raised off the floor on a metal base covered with cowhide. The original structure adds character to the product; a light shell of metal sheets covered in cowhide that flares from the base to embrace the large cushions of the armrests and back. It’s an object enhanced by fine finishing materials, for rigorous aesthetic results. The many possible fabric / leather variants give the sofa a versatile look, formed by the combination of two materials for a range of different effects. Este is joined by a family of small tables that complement its design. With a metal base, tops in many types of wood, marble (available in the catalogue) and ample sizes in the round, square and rectangular models, these tables are ideal for placement in front of the sofa.
Flexform luxury furniture’s aesthetic is characteristic of a sober elegance that translates into essential forms and soft, never gaudy materials. The Flexform world is made of good manners and good taste, a gentle aesthetic. The Flexform style is simple, deconstructed and refined down to the smallest details.
It blends several key values that have little to do with fashion: a coherent design that does not depend on passing fads; discretion and charm, where the aesthetic value of elegance lies in subtraction; the contemporary character of design that is quiet and composed, but expresses a sense of emotional well-being through proportion, precious materials, fabrics and finishes. This timeless design approach is eternally modern, exercising aesthetic poise and moderation. And, above all, the tactile and visual comfort lends a warm and cosy sensation of intimate relaxation. Beauty lasts in time and never goes out of style. This is the Italian style of Flexform.
