Many have heard the story: Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A., produced tractors from surplus post-WWll military hardware. Then Ferruccio Lamborghini – already a successful entrepreneur – opted to begin making cars as a result of frustrations he had with a Ferrari he’d purchased. Ultimately, this resulted in him being insulted by Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the renowned brand: ‘Look after your tractors’ was an open challenge for an Italian mechanical genius.

In the early ‘60s Lamborghini was born and during that decade an astonishing number of models were launched, many of which are priceless collectibles today.

Just over a year ago Automobili Lamborghini launched the Lamborghini Urus, the first Super Sport Utility Vehicle, which has created a new niche in the luxury segment with benchmarking power, performance and driving dynamics – plus unparalleled design and luxury – in synch with usability.

The Urus elevates the SUV to a level not previously seen, the Super SUV; and yet this is a true Lamborghini that fits within the Lamborghini family as a high performance car. It’s the culmination of intensive development and passion to create a Super SUV that transcends the boundaries of expectations – opening doors to new possibilities – for both the brand and its customers.

Urus features a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 478kW at 6 000rpm with 850Nm of maximum torque from 2 250rpm. This translates to epic performance: Urus accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and 0-200km/h in 12.8 seconds; with a top speed of 305km/h it is the fastest SUV available.

Yet, the Lamborghini Urus is as much a luxury SUV as it is the most powerful. Its low-line coupé styling and commanding road position belie a very comfortable ride, higher ground clearance and luxurious space within, all coupled with the latest technologies.

The Urus has a 4WD system with active torque vectoring and four-wheel steering for perfect handling. Add carbon ceramic brakes, adaptive air suspension and active roll stabilisation for maximum safety and comfort; and up to six different driving modes + EGO mode available via the ‘Tamburo’ driving dynamics selector.

The result is an SUV that provides easy driving in the city, maximum comfort during long journeys, thrilling super sports car dynamics on the road and track, and versatile off-road abilities in a range of environments. So, the Lamborghini Urus has a dual personality and is multidimensional. It can be specified to be as sporty or as elegant as the owner wishes, to be used equally as a daily luxury drive or to provide an exhilarating super sports experience.
