The home was originally a 1940s ranch house located in Brentwood, California that was redesigned for Jen Bleakley and her partner Nina Jacobson and their three young children – noted figures in the entertainment industry.

Jamie Bush Studio completely redesigned the interior architecture and furnished the spaces in a playful mid-century aesthetic, working in collaboration with the architect Bruce Bolander who designed the addition of a screening room, pool and pool pavilion.

In the spirit of many Californian mid-century modern architects and designers, Bush Studio’s design blurs the interior and exterior spaces to take full advantage of the Southern California lifestyle. By repeating the same material and colour palette on furnishings and finishes they visually connected the interior and exterior living areas. Further, they infused the house with vintage mid-century modern finds along with custom pieces of their own design. The result is a reflection of the playful optimism and use of natural materials championed by many of the important California designers from previous eras.
