For those who have everything, there is always a little something to be savoured – and perhaps acquired. Not so little in fact.

Habitat was invited on the international launch of the Rolls Royce Dawn in the Cape Winelands, an event that the global press corps found fabulous; the Cape exceeding all expectations as a launch venue.

The car is beautiful and looks equally appealing with the top up or retracted, a process which takes just 20 seconds and can occur at speeds up to 50km/h. Based on the same platform as its siblings the Ghost and Wraith, Dawn is powered by the same engine: a V12 6-litre bi-turbo and is a drop-head coupé of superior acceleration to compare with far smaller supercars; less than 5 seconds to 100km/h. With hood up, it is whisper quiet with smoothly assured roadholding and good braking. Dawn can be ordered in two-tone finish and countless exterior / interior trims are available with personalised, once-off finishes and detailing. It will be sold in SA and a new dealership is being negotiated in Cape Town for the near future. So Dawn is absolutely ideal for the Fairest Cape – likely it’s the ultimate promenade cruiser. Price tag? Around R11-million; it’s the rarity value, you see.
