Generous hospitality will meet holistic, pared-down design for the modern business traveller here. This forward-thinking lifestyle brand is manifesting an experimental, new hotel concept that has quietly been brewing in Jozi. The hotel brand positions itself as an affordable, design-conscious hospitality solution for creatives travelling on business.
Strathavon neighbourhood is less than 2km away from the centre of Sandton’s CBD and The Mighty Fine Strathavon is set to debut in February 2021. It’s a new kind of hotel designed for the future- and community-driven visitor; an upmarket hospitality experience catering to designers, freelancers and entrepreneurs without sacrificing design, for an affordable rate.
In this age of transition, the hotel aims to please those business travellers for whom beautiful and conscious design means comfort, ease, integrity and the list goes on. This leads with communal spaces and amenities, such as lobby turned co-working hub turned art gallery and all-day community café for both guests and neighbours alike.
It involves another epic collaboration between international award-winning interior designer Tristan du Plessis (past projects include: Design HotelTM Gorgeous George in Cape Town, SA; Americano in Dubai, UAE; Design HotelTM Chapter Roma in Rome, Italy) and creative duo Jana + Koos.
Built by avant-garde entrepreneurs, The Mighty Fine supports kindred hustlers with access to an all-day community café, podcast studio for hire, lobby turned co-working space, pool, and treehouse bar to connect and create in. Calm retreats from the demands of the hustle can be found throughout.
It’s the first hotel project to be both built and managed by Johannesburg-based property development firm, Narrative. And it was born out of the management team’s own need to fill the void for business travels between Cape Town and Johannesburg.
International award-winning interior designer Tristan du Plessis has used designer light fittings and a mix of modern and quirky furniture celebrate local South African designers with a pop of European luxury.
Beautiful brass details with contrasting textures; Bouclé fabric and leather on loose furniture are seen throughout. Rooms range from 25 square metres to 119 square metres. The Gin Treehouse will be a place to connect and create and produce in while the gym will be accessible for all in-house guests as well as offer a variety of health+wellness classes. The pool will be accessible for in-house guests with complimentary WiFi throughout.
The 61-luxe rooms at The Mighty Fine will have a mix of studio to three-bedroom suites where modern design, playful interiors, and digital functional logic co-exist. While still staying true to the less-is-more micro-hotel approach, rooms will be styled as comfortable residences, each with a fully-equipped kitchen, locally sourced bath products, and smart TVs for those looking to stay short, stay long, or stay a while. Studios and suites use neutral tones, touches of elegant unpolished marble and warm oak timbers. Each room is designed with the modern necessary comforts to live, work and play; whether it’s for a night, week or month. All rooms feature a fully-equipped kitchenette with SMEG appliances; bespoke, locally sourced luxury bathroom amenities; a Marshall Bluetooth speaker; Smart TV and 24-hour room service.
